What changed for the 2027 IB Computer Science IA?
This resource updates the earlier SEACSTA IBDP Computer Science moderation checklist for the revised internal assessment, first assessed in 2027. The 30-mark IA now uses five criteria: A Problem specification, B Planning, C System overview, D Development and E Evaluation. Unlike the previous IA, a formal client interview and a fixed list of complex techniques are not mandatory. The checklist also covers measurable success criteria, designed algorithms, functional and structural testing, a demonstration video, and the full source-code appendix.
Use alongside the official IB guide
This is a support resource, not an official IB publication or an alternative marking scheme. Students should read it alongside the IB Computer Science guide (first assessment 2027). Ticking a checklist item does not itself guarantee marks.
Acknowledgements
This checklist builds on the original SEACSTA IBDP CS Moderation Check-List, compiled by teachers in the SEACSTA community and coordinated by Carl Turland. David Prieto’s freely shared Criterion A–E and testing guidance also informed this update. Full acknowledgements and references are included in the document.
